Clinic Assistant: As a Clinic Assistant, you would typically schedule patient appointments, prepares patient charts and exam rooms, monitors patient flow, and assists physicians and nurses with exams. Your duties might also include reviewing and coding charge slips, submitting insurance claims and performing general office duties.

Patient Registrar: As a Patient Registrar, you would typically work with patients in a front-office environment, greeting, registering, directing and scheduling them. The registrar serves as the liaison between the patients and the medical support staff, and duties generally include preparing and processing medical charts and paperwork for new patients, updating/correcting patient information in the medical record system, review paperwork and physicians’ notes with patients at time of discharge.

Central Intake Clerk: In this role, you would enter patient referrals into a computer system, and verify patient insurance information, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. You would make phone calls to agencies and related sources to verify medical coverage. You might also research and coordinate licensing updates and renewals for any specialists on staff.

Patient Admitting Representative: In this role, you would be responsible for assisting the medical staff with prompt treatment of patients by helping to complete the patient admitting process. You would register all patients by accurately compiling their complete information, using hospital records and other forms. This position requires attention to detail for timely reimbursement. You would be expected to communicate with physicians, nurses, and all hospital staff to ensure good workflow in a busy environment.

Medical Records Clerk: As a medical records clerk, you would typically be responsible for handling a variety of clerical functions in a medical setting, including filing, faxing, photocopying, scanning, and transcribing. You might also be expected to coordinate mail delivery, bar code and label patient charts, perform quality assurance of outpatient charts, sort loose reports, pull and deliver of charts, answer phones, and direct patients to the appropriate departments.
